Yashoda Hospitals Restores Hope with Successful Single-stage Dual Stoma Reversal Surgery

Yashoda Hospitals, a leader in advanced surgical care, successfully performed a complex dual stoma reversal surgery on a 25-year-old patient Mr. Saurav Kumar Yadav. The patient had previously undergone a laparotomy with diversion ileostomy and colostomy following a severe road traffic accident (RTA) that led to fecal peritonitis. After months of recovery, surgery for restoring bowel continuity was deferred at many centres, stating a high risk given complex adhesions and the presence of both ileostomy and colostomy. He returned to Yashoda Hospitals for a successful single -stage dual stoma closure procedure.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Moode Jayanth, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and Robotic Surgeon, along with a multidisciplinary team. The procedure involved the internalization of both ileostomy and colostomy, meticulous anastomosis, and postoperative pain management, ensuring a smooth recovery.

Speaking on the success of the surgery, Dr. Moode Jayanth stated, “Dual stoma reversal is a critical procedure that requires precision and expertise to restore the natural function of the digestive system. At Yashoda Hospitals, we combine cutting-edge technology with skilled surgical intervention to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. We are delighted with Mr. Yadav’s recovery and his progression to a normal diet and lifestyle.”

Following the procedure, the patient was monitored in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) for post-operative pain management and was gradually transitioned to a soft oral diet. The successful removal of drains and steady improvement in bowel function allowed him to be discharged in a stable condition.

Yashoda Hospitals continues to be at the forefront of advanced surgical treatments, offering specialized care to patients from across India and beyond.
