RED Health's VA-ECMO Air Transfer Saves Woman with Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure

Executed a successful VA-ECMO ‘urgent air transfer' of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure from Raipur to a super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad 

RED Health, a medical transport and emergency services provider, announced that it has executed a successful 'urgent air transfer' of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with H1N1 Viral Pneumonia and Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure from Raipur to a super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad using its emergency response system, the Veno-Arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (VA-ECMO) air transfer. 

Elaborating on the patient's condition, the company said, “The patient was in a precarious condition, with oxygen saturation levels dipping to a dangerously low 72%. RED Health's team made the decisive choice to proceed with a VA-ECMO (Veno-Arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) air transfer. Using the VA-ECMO air transfer helped improve the patient's oxygen saturation to 92 percent, providing her the best chance for safe transport while receiving continuous respiratory support during the flight.”
